At the end of a month-long retreat in the spring of 2007, Leigh told me I should go study with another teacher to expand my practice. I really respect that. He recommended Tsoknyi Rinpoche, with whom he had practiced for several years. In April 2008 I did attend a week-long retreat with Tsoknyi Rinpoche. By then he had become so popular that there must have been about 200 people in attendance and it was not possible to have private interviews with him, only “small” groups of about 15 where we might be able to ask one question. I would have liked to ask him about the void, and about the unitive experience, but I did not have the chance to.I really liked his teachings. He talked about developing “good enough” samatha8 before doing vipassana and getting access to rigpa, which seems to be some sort of optimum state to have access to. He said that if you can dwell in rigpa, that’s the only form of meditation you need to do.
